Fairytale world of Guido Vedovato

14.02.2020

An amazing and fabulous, fantastic and children's artist Guido Vedovato was born in 1961 in northern Italy. Self-taught, since 1970, becomes a completely naive artist and sculptor and it all started as a hobby. Only with time, his hobby grew into a professional path.

His paintings are inspired by life scenes, animals, nature, peoples, mountains, where the artist himself lived for a very long time.
Almost always, these are large-sized canvases with original ornaments; his style cannot always be attributed to naive painting.

The rejection of perspective in the works reminds us of children's drawings or drawings of the Egyptians, who emphasized the hierarchical order with this method. Highlighting a lot of details, forgetting about reality, turns his paintings into an invitation to immerse himself in his children's and colorful world. Night paintings reveal the secrets of night birds and animals.

As for his sculptures, he is increasingly drawn to primitive wooden and terracotta figures, and most of his work resembles the works of the famous Dominic Peyronne, filled with a fantastic atmosphere.

His first exhibition was held in 1986. Today, his work is widely exhibited in Italy, Europe, the USA and Canada.
