One of the key roles in the formation of pop art in the 50s of the twentieth century was played by American artist Jasper Jones. He is recognized as one of the main artists of the XX century on a par with Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kuning and others.
Jones worked with real objects, depicting them on canvas: beer bottles, flag or cards. However, in the film False Start (1959) there is no clear composition. The artist seems to play with the viewer, incorrectly signing the colors in the picture, turning the very concept of color. Jasper explained: "I wanted to find a way to paint the color so that it could be determined by some other method." It was this work that was sold in 2006 at a private auction for $ 80 million. To date, it is among the 10 most expensive paintings in the world.
Currently, Jasper Jones lives in Connecticut and is the most expensive artist in the world.
