Pure, transparent flowers from Shin Chong Sik

A master watercolorist was born in Seoul, South Korea. He is currently a professor in the painting department of one of the Art Schools, as well as the director of the Seoul Arts Association and the Changwon Arts Association.

The watercolorist Shin Chong Sik became famous all over the world thanks to his transparent, technically correctly drawn colors. With his works, he was able to win the hearts of millions of viewers who give him genuine, genuine feelings of admiration.
In most cases, these are colorful still lifes, but also in the Sheen collection there are many pastoral paintings and landscapes.
The main “participants” of his work are flowers, dishes, and compositions. Shin doesn’t invent anything, doesn’t add any details, he simply writes what he sees, recreating well-known objects on the canvas, slightly “diluting” them with new ideas, sophisticated techniques and invented drawing tools. Amazing watercolor paintings are the result of a combination of the artist’s innate talent and the incredible ability to “feel” the slightest shades of color and light.

His style is always very recognizable, with a characteristic combination of large color fills and individual detailed objects. In the works, the texture is so good that sometimes I want to call it texture. Moreover, the execution is very light, free. A lot of light and pure color.
He achieves the effect of internal luminescence by highlighting or, on the contrary, hiding certain sections of the picture, in accordance with the “requirements” of the overall color gamut of the picture, while the background, as a rule, is created blurry or remains completely empty.

Weakness and strength always exist side by side in his paintings, thereby increasing the interest of art connoisseurs in the artist's work.
The artist is the author of two books. One book is a textbook and has traditional content: instruction for readers on the basics of working with watercolors, special techniques, some more complex specific concepts. With the help of books, readers can try in watercolor a plastic film, salt, spray, toothbrushes, duct tape, and various surfaces.

The book is divided into projects, perfectly structured, where each project begins with the necessary materials and pencil drawing. Step by step, the lessons are beautifully illustrated and completed by one of the artist’s finished paintings.
The second book is an inspiring collection of his still lifes, landscapes, marinas and floral watercolors.

Currently, watercolor paintings by Sheen adorn many private and public collections of contemporary art by collectors from around the world.
The publication was prepared on the basis of materials from the Internet.
