Today, November 17 marks the 66 th anniversary of the modern British artist Jack Vettriano (real name Hogan).
Jack was born in Scotland and did not show interest in painting until he was 21 when he received a set of watercolors for his birthday. And after 14 years, he already exhibited at the Scottish Royal Academy, where his paintings were sold on the first day of the exhibition.
Heroes of the paintings of Vettriano are luxurious women and gallant men. His work is saturated with the spirit of retro. Dances, kisses, passion, thirst for adventure are present in every work of Vettriano. The style of his work is defined as "romantic figurativism" and narrative art.
In 2004, Vettriano literally blew up the world of art - his painting "The Singing Butler" was sold at an auction Sotheby's in Edinburgh for a record for Scotland $ 1 million 300 thousand interesting that this work was seriously criticized and not considered a masterpiece.
Now Vettriano is one of the most expensive contemporary artists. Only reproductions of his works are annually sold in the amount of 1 million copies.
