It may seem to many that his works are written in oils, but in this case it is only pastel, attention to the smallest details, fullness with light. In his hands is subject to the power of magic paints and canvas.
Richard was born in Canada in 1959 and is currently one of the outstanding artists working in the art of pastel.
The artist never made serious plans to become a painter until he tried pastel. And it captured him completely, he eagerly begins to learn the pastel technique with his teacher Gabriel Messier.
The peculiarity of his technique is the drawing of every detail, light and shade, colors, calmness and peace, as if you can read a store sign in pictures or look out the window.
It combines warm, light orange and subdued red shades to convey a cool landscape in the world. After all, if you look at the evening city in the winter, it is always flooded with red-orange light, which organically merges with the snow.
Thanks to perseverance in the knowledge of pastel, Richard was able to change the world of modern art.
The most interesting feeling that arises about the majority of viewers is that this is Moscow, our Russian winter, with bitter frosts, Christmas trees and a great mood. It is not clear where such an impression comes from, if you can see inscriptions in French in his paintings, where hundreds of shop windows sparkle with light, thousands of lanterns illuminate the street.
Surprisingly warm and rich work creates the incredible warmth of the holiday and magic in the viewer!
