Our guest today is Steve Hanks, who is the best watercolor painter of our time.
No one is better than Steve Hanks can so accurately convey all the scuffs of a tartan, the play of light on the sand, the tenderness of an infant face. The artist himself calls his drawing style as “emotional realism.” His goal is to convey emotions, realism - whereby he does it.
Very often, the faces of his characters are hidden or are in the shadows, sometimes drawings from the back or from the side. Stephen tries to convey emotions through the body, figure and silhouette. So that the viewer himself could think out the face of the character of his paintings.
Part of his handwriting is the back light, believing that the rays can gaze and penetrate objects, filling and filling the room with color.
Thanks to the occasion, when he took the first steps in painting, the artist developed an allergy to paint, he had to look not for inspiration, which he always had a lot of, but for material, Steve switched to watercolor. Using techniques in drawing oil paintings, as well as pencil, he was able to achieve the highest level of mastery of watercolor with precision transfer details, shadows, light, emotions and energy.
His works are recognized all over the world and are considered to be the standard of watercolor possession. They are so realistic that many may think that this is work in the Photoshop program.
His special passion in the pictures is women, believing that it is thanks to them that cause a flurry of emotions and feelings in the viewer. Their portraits reflect saturation and innocence.
From year to year, Steve Hanks is considered one of America’s top 10 artists. His 170 works are included in his own book, which even indifferent critics highly appreciated.
