Painting became for me an insight

26.11.2018

Many consider watercolor complex, at the same time very refined. Where halftones argue with affection pastels, attracting simplicity of many artists.
Our guest today is a Japanese watercolor painter Abe Toshiyuki. After 20 years of teaching painting at the School of Art, Abe begins to create a series of paintings painted in watercolor.
His works are amazing, they admire the simple viewer, connoisseurs, and art historians. They are made at such a high level that most watercolor works border on hyperrealism. Gentle colors and rich shades convey the light-filled space and secluded corners, conveying not even the appearance, but his sensation.
“I believe that my watercolors are capable of expressing ideas of elusive beauty and variability of nature. I try not to depict places in my paintings that are easy to recognize so that the viewer does not have a deja vu effect. Painting should awaken lively emotions from the very depths of the heart, ”the master tells about her work.

The artist does not sign most of his works. In one of the few signed works “Silence of Autumn”, we can see how the landscape pierces in summertime with a warm yellow light, trying to hide the fading nature.

In composition, his works are more like photographs, where the artist often tries to portray not the entire landscape, but only a part of it, conveying slender, flexible grass stalks, reflections on water, shadows cast by tree trunks, grass tangled by sunlight.
One of the artist’s interesting works is the “Prayer”, where the reeds obediently lean towards the ground in the evening rays of the passing day.
Abe creates his works all year round, with no definite preferences for anyone season. Due to this aspect, we can admire the summer, autumn and winter landscapes of Japan. For example, the work "Persimmon", where we can see discreet colors, but the graceful lines of the trunk and shadows on the snow-white snow attract the eyes of the audience.
His watercolor paintings are always refined and exquisite, as is Japanese culture itself. Considering that art is a mirror of the soul of the viewer!

We admire and admire the beauty of watercolor works of an interesting Japanese artist Abe Toshiyuki.
